Escape Countdown Festival Review

What could have been a better end to the year 2013 than playing at a amazingly organized Escape Countdown Festival. A build up to the popular Escape Festival, Countdown was no less. Organized at the sprawling Tarudhan Valley Golf Resorts in Manesar (just about a 20 minute drive from Gurgaon Toll), three stages were set for the carnival – Skinner Stage (Rock/Blues/Jazz), Vibe Stage (Electronic and Dance Music), and Boiler Stage. Prateek Kuhad First up on the Skinner Stage was Prateek Kuhad, a singer-songwriter from New Delhi. Accompanied by Nikhil Vasudevan on drums, he played a bunch of nice and mellow songs to set the tone for the evening, which…

Why Hindi Rock? The Nation Wants To Know :P

Antariksh - Khoj

We’ve been asked this question umpteen number of times by various friends and people who’ve heard our music (thankfully not by Arnab Goswami :P), attended our gigs, and those who’ve been following our music since our early years. Each time this question pops up, it takes us back a few years to the time when we were belting out progressive, heavy western rock/metal tunes with our previous bands – Prestorika, Feedback, Under Siege, and Decibel. The kind of bands we’d cover would include Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Skid Row, Van Halen and the likes. So, very naturally a lot of people were surprised and had questions – how come Hindi…

Antariksh’s debut album, Khoj’s cover artwork explained!

Hindi Rock Song, Aisa Hi Hota Hai - Free Download

How important is an album cover? This was the first question we asked ourselves before we started thinking of ideas for our album cover. The obvious answer was “very”. Although it’s always recommended to not judge a book by its cover, we humans, do have a natural tendency to do so. Especially, when we do not have enough information/opinion on something, we do tend make our choices on the basis of what meets the eye. All of us in the band are firm believers of the fact that there has to be some concept, some logic, or some meaning behind every piece of music we create, lyrics we write, or…

Antariksh’s second single, ‘Tum’ featuring Baiju Dharmajan crosses 100 downloads on SoundCloud

Hindi Rock Song, Aisa Hi Hota Hai - Free Download

There’s no better feeling for a band than to know that their music is being appreciated and enjoyed by the people. Our elation is multiple folds for we believe we’re successfully managing to popularize a completely new genre of music, Progressive Hindi Rock. We are one of the first progressive Hindi rock band in India – by that statement, what we essentially mean is that we’re one of the first bands who has dared to bring western prog-rock music (the likes of Rush, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation) to Hindi songs. All of us in the band have been huge fans and have played progressive rock music with various…

Antariksh – Dheere Dheere Lyrics

We’ve been getting a lot of requests to post the lyrics for our first released single, Dheere Dheere, so we thought, now would be the best time to do this as we get closer to the release of our debut album, ‘Khoj’. We feel absolutely ecstatic about the fact that our audience and fans are wanting to know more about the songs we’ve written. In fact, we’ve been completely humbled by the notes we’ve received from people mentioning that how the lyrics of the song resonate with the stories of their lives. It means a lot to us to know that we have been able to transcend the emotion of…

Antariksh all set to release debut album titled ‘Khoj’

Hindi Rock Song, Aisa Hi Hota Hai - Free Download

As the band describes, their very first album ‘Khoj’, is about search for identity, a quest to understand our very own nature. It is in moments of disconnect, that the journey inward begins – Khoj is an intense and passionately crafted musical journey that captures these moments through hard, edgy Hindi rock music. Here’s how the album cover looks like. You can hear a few teasers from the album here. The album has a strong theme across all songs both musically as well as lyrically, touching topics such as ethical dilemmas, identity crises, hope, greed, chaos, realizations, etc. – things that are a part of our regular lives. The band…

Antariksh on Dilli Aaj Tak

Recently, we did a funny little interview with Dilli Aaj Tak for their series of episodes on Hindi Rock bands from Delhi. Antariksh on Dilli Aaj Tak Despite being a band who essentially plays Hindi Rock music, we realized how difficult it is to answer questions in our very own native language. Not sure whether the questions themselves were really hilarious, or if our generation has sort of lost it’s ability to speak well in our native language, or both – it was quite an interesting and amusing experience. The video features snippets of us playing acoustic versions of our songs Dheere Dheere and Naa Jane Kyun, clippings from our…
