AAP effect and Tour Diaries: A surprisingly pleasant incident on our way to a show at IIM Rohtak

Let us tell you about a really funny and a surprisingly pleasant incident that happened a few days ago. Comfortably seated in a cab, on a pleasant winter afternoon, were headed to IIM Rohtak to play at gig their Pro Night event on January 19th. Somewhere near Bahadurgarh, a few cops dressed in Khakhis signalled our driver to stop the cab. We were a little surprised as the driver had committed no offense. We were not speeding, we had our seat belts – nothing was out of place. We asked the driver, “kya hua bhaiyya” and he was like “kuch nahi sir, 100-50 rupaye lene hain inko”. No surprises, the cops started…

Saari Raat Noori Cover by Antariksh at Blue Frog

Antariksh Live at Blue Frog

Noori’s coke studio version of Saari Raat undoubtedly has to be our favourite song from Season 2 of Coke Studio, Pakistan. When we formed the band last year and thought of picking up a song to cover, Saari Raat was indeed our very first choice. It’s a song that suits Antariksh’s edgy, progressive Hindi Rock style very well. We’ve been covering Saari Raat for almost a year now, and every single time it gets everyone grooving and an absolutely crazy response from the audience. Here’s a video of us playing our rendition of Saari Raat at our album launch gig at Blue Frog, Delhi. Saari Raat (Noori Cover) Live at…

VK 1

What could have been a better end to the year 2013 than playing at a amazingly organized Escape Countdown Festival. A build up to the popular Escape Festival, Countdown was no less. Prateek Kuhad First up on the Skinner Stage was Prateek Kuhad, a singer-songwriter from New Delhi. Picture6

“The super band of sorts releases musical roller coaster, featuring music prodigies including Baiju Dharmajan.” Those are some really flattering opening lines for an album review – if you’re a band member who has worked really hard over years to produce an album, you’d be reading such a review with a wide smile on your face. Post the release of our album, ‘Khoj’ we sent out a few copies to some music magazines, senior musicians and other media people and Popsplat, happened to be the first one to review it, rating it 4 on 5. Why Hindi Rock? The Nation Wants To Know :P

Screen shot 2013-08-28 at 12.59.41 AM

We’ve been asked this question umpteen number of times by various friends and people who’ve heard our music (thankfully not by Arnab Goswami :P), attended our gigs, and those who’ve been following our music since our early years. Each time this question pops up, it takes us back a few years to the time when we were belting out progressive, heavy western rock/metal tunes with our previous bands – Prestorika, Feedback, Under Siege, and Decibel. The kind of bands we’d cover would include Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Skid Row, Van Halen and the likes. So, very naturally a lot of people were surprised and had questions – how come Hindi…

Antariksh’s debut album, Khoj’s cover artwork explained!

Hindi Rock Song, Aisa Hi Hota Hai - Free Download

How important is an album cover? This was the first question we asked ourselves before we started thinking of ideas for our album cover. The obvious answer was “very”. Although it’s always recommended to not judge a book by its cover, we humans, do have a natural tendency to do so. Especially, when we do not have enough information/opinion on something, we do tend make our choices on the basis of what meets the eye. All of us in the band are firm believers of the fact that there has to be some concept, some logic, or some meaning behind every piece of music we create, lyrics we write, or…

Antariksh’s second single, ‘Tum’ featuring Baiju Dharmajan crosses 100 downloads on SoundCloud

Hindi Rock Song, Aisa Hi Hota Hai - Free Download

There’s no better feeling for a band than to know that their music is being appreciated and enjoyed by the people. Our elation is multiple folds for we believe we’re successfully managing to popularize a completely new genre of music, Progressive Hindi Rock. We are one of the first progressive Hindi rock band in India – by that statement, what we essentially mean is that we’re one of the first bands who has dared to bring western prog-rock music (the likes of Rush, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation) to Hindi songs. All of us in the band have been huge fans and have played progressive rock music with various…
