After witnessing an awesome response to their first release, Dheere Dheere, Antariksh released it’s second single, ‘Tum‘ on August 23rd, 2013, a few weeks before the release of it’s much awaited debut album, ‘Khoj‘. And as expected, the song was an instant hit catching attention of all the music magazines, and bloggers in India. The Score magazine described it as a “rich and a soulful track ” while a few bloggers termed it as the hottest Hindi Rock song of 2013.
The song, Tum, as the band describes is a song which can mean different things to different people. Some may perceive it to be a love ballad, while for some – it might be a song about almighty – it actually is a song about self-realization. A realization of the very fact that the all the answers that one may seek, lie within.
It starts with a beautiful strings section entering into a mellow vocals and acoustic guitar section, before the whole band kicks in. Here’s where you can hear the song and download it for free:
While composing the song, guitar player, Varun Rajput had come up with a guitar solo for the song which had a few carnatic nuances. Here’s a small video of the guitar solo, he’d created while composing:
The band says, “One fine day, we had this idea – what could be better than having the carnatic guitar maestro, Baiju Dharmajan play the solo in that track. We reached out to him, through our manager, Rahul and he gracefully agreed. This, we thought was the perfect song for him to play something on and we think his solo has taken the song to a whole new level.”
