Antariksh – Highlights from 2014 and a happy new year to you all
So people, New year’s already here.
We are immensely proud to have completed another successful year with a lot of hard work and tonnes of support from all you amazing people. 2014 has been a total roller coaster for us, and we can easily say that it’s been our best year so far! From traveling across the country to writing new tunes, from getting nominated for VIMA Asia Awards to getting featured as one of the best Hindi Rock bands by MTV; from rehearsing each song 1,000 times to making hilarious mistakes on stage, and from meeting tons of fans to some of the closest band members moving on to different things – it’s been quite an eventful year. Nevertheless, the year brought good fortune for us and we expect to up the level in 2015.
It’s almost impossible to summarise the entire year because there’s just so much that happened in such a short span of time. However, as we bid adieu to 2014, we’d love to share some of the great moments it brought.
1. Playing at Escape Countdown Festival at Tarudhan Valley Resorts, Manesar on December 31st 2013, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2014 – it was indeed a PARTY. January was as awesome with some of the most amazing gigs at IIM Rohtak, IIIT Delhi, and TEDx SGGSCC. The videos say it all.
3. Next few months kept getting even better with tonnes of awesome gigs at awesome places. And eventually came the moment we all feared, when our dear singer, ‘Mridul Ganesh’ had plans to move to Pennsylvania to pursue an MBA at Wharton Business School. Although, prepared for it since 6 months, it wasn’t easy to have such an important member leave. But can you believe the stroke of luck – Varun Rajput and Vipul Malhotra found Sharad Joshi, an immensely talented, young and enthusiastic singer while judging a rock competition. It all just happened so quickly that a month later we were gigging again. Sharad just did a great job stepping into Mridul’s shoes and totally made a rockstar entry at his first public gig playing to an audience of over 5000 at Select Stage, Select City Walk. Here’s a video of us playing our song, ‘Aisa Hi Hota Hai’ from the same concert.
4. The second half of the year got even busier and better with some of the best shows coming our way. Be it CRPF Half Marathon at the grand Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium where 10,000 people cheered with us or Carmel Junior College, Jamshedpur where the 500 strong audience was way louder than us, we literally have been having the time our life being able to play our music at some of the best venues across the countries. We hope to continue doing so and take our music to more awesome people across the world.
We’re chalking some some big plans and ideas for 2015 – look forward to seeing some of you at some point of time this year at some place across the country. Till then we’ll get back to making some more music to keep you groovin’, and hopefully stay strong in the list of best Hindi Rock bands from India. Stay tuned for more updates and watch a few more videos here 🙂
